What to bring to your first coaching session · Guides

A short checklist so your first career coaching meeting produces a usable plan instead of a vague conversation.

Laptop and notes prepared for a coaching call

Career coaching for a first role works best when both sides can see real constraints. Arrive with documents and decisions half-formed rather than waiting for the coach to invent your life story.

Documents

  • Current CV, even if unfinished
  • Three job ads that interest you (or frustrate you)
  • Notes on cities you can reach and any hard limits on hours or travel

Decisions worth making beforehand

Know whether you need income within a fixed number of weeks, and whether you would accept a temporary contract to enter a field. Those preferences change which openings we prioritise.

Questions worth asking

Ask how many applications a realistic week contains for your sector, and what “good enough” looks like for a first cover letter. Specific questions keep the session from drifting into general motivation talk.
